Daniel & Carey Domb - Apollo II - Odyssey (1998)
| WAV (Tracks+Cue) | 406MB | Cello, Guitar, Classical | New Century Workshop Ltd. (HK) |
"Beautiful classical and popular melodies arranged and performed by Daniel Domb, cello and Carey Domb, guitar. The silken tones of the cello with a gentle guitar accompaniment bring new meaning to the music of Bach, Chopin, tangos, movie themes and more".

Daniel Domb began his studies at the age of 11 with Paul Tortelier in Isreal and Paris, and a few years later was chosen by Leonard Bernstein to appear with the New York Philharmonic. After study with Leonard Rose at Julliard, he earned a Masters degree at age 21 and became a professor at the Oberlin Conservatory that same year.

After two years as principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra, Daniel was invited to be Principal Cellist of the Toronto Symphony in 1974. Carey Domb started her musical life with the cello, receiving both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Rice University in Texas.

After her experience in the Montovani Orchestra, Carey developed a penchant for lighter classical music which was shared by Daniel. The guitar and cello duo evolved from a heartfelt desire of the Dombs to play together. A simple framework of acoustic guitar brings out the haunting beauty of the cello and creates a special atmosphere perfect for the music the Dombs love to play.

Carey Domb started her musical life with the cello, receiving both bachelor and master of music degrees from Rice University in Texas.

Daniel and his wife Carey began their duo performing with two cellos and can both be heard playing cello on two CDs of pianist Mary Bundy: A Gift of Love and Blessings from the Heart. However, they always had in mind a different kind of setting to frame the beautiful sound of the cello, and Carey began to accompany Daniel on guitar, arranging many of their favourite pieces. The combination of cello and guitar has been so successful that the couple performs regularly for both public and private events in Canada and the north-eastern United States.
They have released four CDs: Apollo, Odyssey, Il Sole Italian and Steppes. The discs, manufactured in Canada, have been especially popular in Taiwan, selling thousands. The recordings have also found a niche with audiophiles world-wide, leading to the German re-release of Apollo on vinyl. (Danieldomb.com)
