Meng Tingwei is Taiwan singer, who is best known for her sweet voice and melancholy songs that struck a chord with many people in the 1990s. Meng had abruptly gone into seclusion in her heyday to meditate and seek spiritual peace. She is a devout Buddhist who has been a vegetarian for over 10 years and in 2001 released a the first Buddhist theme album: Amitabha (阿彌佗佛).

Meng made a comeback in 2004 and since then has subtly slanted her music toward songs that sound warmheartedly fresh.
