The touching story of the female hero Mu Guiying has been passed down from generation to generation and is well-known from ancient times to the present day. This composition employs a blend of symphony orchestra and a Chinese ethnic percussion ensemble, portraying Mu Guiying's valor in defending her family and her country as she bravely led her troops into battle. The music begins with brass instruments, depicting Mu Guiying setting out for war. Then, a sudden change in rhythm, with the rapid percussion beats, immerses us in the densely clouded ancient battlefield. The music alternates between combat, battle, screaming, and charging, creating a thrilling and heart-pounding composition. The interplay between the brass section and the percussion ensemble, as well as the string orchestra and the percussion, creates a dynamic and emotional musical journey. The finale of the piece, with the ensemble playing like a triumphant anthem, celebrates Mu Guiying's victorious return and extols her patriotic spirit.
In the more than 5,000 years of Chinese imperial history, there are countless records of the true feelings of emperors, such as the love between King Wu and Xi Shi, Tang Ming Huang and Yang Guifei, and more. This composition is inspired by the theme song from the TV series "Sui Tang Yan Yi," created by the composer Shi Zhiyou. The music is primarily performed using xiao and dizi (Chinese bamboo flutes). The melody is smooth and sentimental, expressing that even emperors, as human beings, have a tender and emotional side, as well as their own true love...
