"This wonderful CD is a delightful marriage of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar by Jeff Peterson and shakuhachi flute by Riley Lee, Hawai'i's only Grand Master of the shakuhachi, one of the few outside Japan. Both musicians are world recognized for their accomplishments singularly and have now collaborated in this first of a series of recordings."

Riley Kelly Lee (born 1951) is an American-born Australian-based shakuhachi player and teacher. In 1980 he became the first non-Japanese person to attain the rank of Dai Shihan (grand master) in the shakuhachi tradition. He has been instrumental in creating a professional presence of traditional Japanese music in Australia. He has introduced the shakuhachi to a diverse audience as both a soloist and with other performers of such instruments as harp, cello, saxophone, tabla, guitar, didjeridu, and symphony orchestra. He has made over fifty commercially released recordings since 1980, which are sold worldwide on a number of labels.

Jeff Peterson is a slack key guitar player from Maui, Hawaii. The son of a paniolo at Haleakala Ranch, Jeff was exposed to the sounds of slack key at an early age. Jeff has contributed to many albums, including a series of slack key and bamboo flute duets with Riley Lee. Jeff has shared the stage with many Hawaiian legends at concerts throughout the islands and Japan, and recently did a stint with the Nashville Symphony.

He is currently a guitar professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Oahu. (Wikipedia)
