Zhao Cong (赵聪) is a renowned Chinese pipa virtuoso, composer, and cultural ambassador, celebrated for her innovative fusion of traditional Chinese music with contemporary elements. Born into a musical family in Jilin Province, she began studying the pipa under her mother's guidance at an early age. Her prodigious talent was evident when she won her first major award at 13. She later graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where she studied under Professor Li Guanghua.

As the principal pipa soloist and director of the China National Traditional Orchestra, Zhao has performed in over 30 countries, gracing prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Her performances have captivated audiences worldwide, including heads of state like Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Kevin Rudd.

Zhao's contributions to music extend beyond performance. She has been recognized as a "Maestro Performer of International World Music Instruments" by the Arts Council of San Jose and has served as a visiting scholar at Stanford and Cambridge Universities. Her album "Sound of China," released under Universal Music Group, was the first Chinese traditional instrumental album by the label, earning acclaim for its blend of ancient melodies with modern sensibilities.

Zhao's innovative spirit is evident in her compositions, such as the pipa concerto "Fujian Everlasting," which integrates traditional instruments with symphonic elements. Her efforts have redefined the global perception of Chinese music, showcasing its depth, versatility, and contemporary relevance.
